The vehicle body is subjected to high loads during fast driving, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the body to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex during cornering can also cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The fender brace helps further connect and stiffen the bodywork, thereby reducing its flex.
