The car’s chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause severe chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
