The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during dynamic driving. When cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating, vehicle weight transfer affects the body.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can cause significant chassis flex, or deformation and torsion of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. Fender braces help further connect and reinforce this part of the body.
