The vehicle body is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
During cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater deformation and body flex, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
