The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident when the vehicle’s mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in significant deformation and flexing of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and flexing of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. This front lower brace helps increase chassis rigidity in the mounting area.
The brace has 2 mounting points and is intended for the BMW M5 (E39) with a 4.9 V8 engine, 2WD and a manual transmission.
