The vehicle chassis is subjected to the greatest loads during fast driving, mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and hard acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes considerable chassis flex or body deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and deformation in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
