The vehicle chassis is subjected to significant loads while driving, especially due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes the chassis to twist or the body to deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip. Chassis flexing during cornering can also cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
