The vehicle chassis is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When weight is transferred in a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant chassis flex or body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
