The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
In some cases, transferring weight while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant bending, deformation and twisting of the chassis, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
