The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intensive acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of weight when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
