The vehicle chassis is subjected to significant loads during fast driving. These are mainly caused by the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and hard acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the chassis to twist or the body to deform, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
