The vehicle chassis is one of the most heavily loaded parts, as it is affected by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through corners, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can lead to significant chassis flex, or body deformation and torsion, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
