The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during dynamic driving. High loads occur primarily due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This causes significant chassis deformation and torsional twisting of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The brace is designed to provide an additional connection between the lower chassis sections at the front of the vehicle.
