A car’s chassis is subjected to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex, or deformation and torsional twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps increase the stiffness of this area of the chassis.
