The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is mainly due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.

When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to 3 times more force than the other. This causes significant bending, deformation and twisting of the chassis, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.

Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
