The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant chassis twisting, body deformation and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
