The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
