The vehicle chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering quickly, the load on one side of the vehicle can increase to as much as three times that of the other side. This causes the chassis to bend and twist, or the bodywork to deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps further connect and stiffen the lower section of the chassis.
