The vehicle chassis is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight when cornering at speed, braking hard and accelerating.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause considerable chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
