The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in greater twisting and bending of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause poorer handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace connects the mounting points of the top mounts and helps limit unwanted body movement.
