The car body is the part subjected to the greatest load during sporty driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Body deformation and twisting during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
