When cornering quickly, braking hard and accelerating, the vehicle body is subjected to high loads due to weight transfer. The front strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the dampers and helps limit body flex.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes body twisting and consequently reduces tyre grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The brace helps increase the stiffness of the front section of the body and improve the vehicle’s responsiveness.
