The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater bending and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points of the front suspension and reduce body twisting.
