The car’s chassis or body is subjected to high loads during dynamic driving. These loads are caused primarily by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the body to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex during cornering can negatively affect vehicle handling, for example by increasing understeer or oversteer. The front strut brace connects the mounting points at the top of the front suspension and helps limit such deformation.
