The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front suspension and further strengthens this part of the body.
