The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater twisting and bending of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps reduce bending of the front section of the body and improve the rigidity of the strut mounts.
