The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater loads on the chassis, chassis flex and body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace further connects the upper mounting points and helps increase the rigidity of the front section of the body.
