When driving fast, the vehicle body is subjected to high loads, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than the load on the other side. This causes the body to bend and twist, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body bending and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points and increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
