The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of mass during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This creates high loads, bending and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps increase body stiffness around the upper mounting points of the front dampers.
