The vehicle body is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads due to the driver’s driving style. When cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating suddenly, the vehicle’s mass transfer affects the body.
In certain situations, mass transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to experience up to three times more load than the other. This causes the body to bend, deform and twist, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace connects the mounting points in the upper section of the front suspension and helps limit undesirable body movement.
