The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially noticeable due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more heavily than the other. This results in greater twisting and deformation of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformation of the body during cornering can lead to poorer handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace connects the mounting points at the top of the front suspension and helps limit body twisting.
