The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This results in greater loads on the body, flexing and deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flexing and deformation when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace connects the upper mounting points and further stiffens the front section of the body.
