The vehicle chassis is one of the most heavily loaded parts, as it is affected by body mass transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the body to bend, twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace additionally connects the mounting points of the front dampers and helps reduce body movement.
