The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight can cause forces on one side of the vehicle to be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes considerable twisting and deformation of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body deformation and twisting when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The upper strut brace connects the mounting points of the front struts and helps limit body flex.
