The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in significant twisting and bending of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformations of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace connects the upper strut mounting points and helps increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
