The vehicle body is subjected to considerable loads during fast driving, heavy braking and acceleration, mainly due to the transfer of body weight.
When cornering quickly, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater body twisting and deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
