The vehicle body is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
In certain cases, the transfer of mass through a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times greater force than the other. This can result in significant body flex and deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing through corners can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace (strut bar) helps further connect the upper part of the front suspension and limit these body movements.
