The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is especially evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In certain cases, the transfer of weight in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to 3 times greater force than the other. This can result in significant body flex and deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation while cornering can cause poorer handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
