The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps connect the upper strut mounts and increase the rigidity of this section of the body.
