The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes greater body flex and deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body deformation and flex while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps increase the stiffness of the front part of the body.
The brace is intended only for 1.2 and 1.5 engines with 2WD in left-hand-drive vehicles.
