The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of the body’s mass when cornering at speed, braking hard or accelerating intensely.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater loads on the body, twisting and deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front strut brace helps reduce body flex under such loads.
