When cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating, the vehicle’s chassis is subjected to significant loads caused by the transfer of the body’s weight.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the chassis to twist and flex, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation while driving through a corner can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
