When cornering at speed, braking hard and accelerating, the vehicle body is subjected to significant loads, mainly due to the transfer of the body’s mass.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes body flex and deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body flex while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the dampers and helps stiffen the front section of the body.
