The bodywork is the part of the car subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. The result is significant loads on the bodywork, causing it to bend and twist and consequently reducing tyre grip.
Bending and twisting of the bodywork while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the strut mounting points and helps reduce such deformation of the bodywork.
