The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
During fast cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in increased twisting and bending of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps increase the stiffness of the front section of the body.
