The car body is subjected to the greatest loads during fast driving, primarily due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
During cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and chassis flex, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front dampers and helps increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
- Mounting position: front upper
