The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest load during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes considerable chassis flex or deformation and torsion of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
