The vehicle’s bodywork is the part subjected to the greatest loads during high-speed driving. These loads are caused primarily by the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to approximately three times more force than the other. This can cause significant twisting and bending of the bodywork, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front dampers and helps reduce unwanted body movement.
