The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater body twisting and deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
