The vehicle body is subjected to heavy loads during fast driving. These loads are caused primarily by weight transfer through the body during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
